
PROJECT UPDATE
Script and Score
Since receiving confirmation of the funding, writer Christine Harmar-Brown and Composer Steve Clark have been working on the script and score.
There are thirteen songs in all, ranging from the passionate, voice of the people songs: Brave New World and Progress Marches On and On, hich are sung by the choir, to the Motown insipred Lucky Feet of the casino scene.
Venue
Following the showcase in the fish factory, we have the go-ahead to mount the production in the decommissioned Freda Gardham School in New Road, Rye. This is a fantastic building, which is entering an exciting new phase as a Creative Centre. The old school hall will be transformed into a performance space and will seat approximately 150. Creative and Production Team
Since January, Sophie Charalambous has joined as Designer, Alex Weller has come on board as Producion Manager, Ben Payne as Lighting Designer, Jon Morgan as Sound Designer, Eden Thornton as Technical ASM, John Cornford as Choir Leader and MD, Megan O'Mara as Production Assistant and Niki Joy will be working with Christine Harmar-Brown as Assistant Director.
Community Involvement
The choir re-launched on January 25th with a fantastic turnout of over fifty despite foul weather and significant absences due to illness. Many old faces from the showcase in March plus lots of new ones. Rehearsals will now be held weekly on Wednesday evenings between 7.00 and 9.00 pm.
REHEARSAL SCHEDULEStudents in the choir at Rye College will start work on the creation of a vocal soundscape in March, working with Vocal Percussionist and Beatboxer, Ollie Finn. Steve will then incorporate the tracks into the sound design.
Talented Local Performers are being invited to take a number of smaller roles and form an ensemble cast, which will join the professional company during rehearsals, Auditions are on Friday Feb 27th and Saturday Feb 28th at The School Creative Centre.
